Welcome to the School of History and Art History.

We are a School with a shared passion for exploring the past, whether revealed in texts, artworks, artefacts, buildings, or landscapes. Our students benefit from the expertise and dedication of world-leading scholars and practitioners, a welcoming community with a high level of pastoral support. We offer distinctive degree programmes which bring together the classroom and the real world.

Our History courses focus on medieval, early modern, and modern history, as well as landscape history, and our Art History courses focus on the study of artists, museum history and practice, and cultural heritage. We are very proud of our teaching and research in diverse areas of international, political, cultural, social, and intellectual history.
