The Law School hosts an active research group that is dedicated to the research of Public International Law.
The International Law Research Group encompasses a broad array of fields, including International Economic Law (Trade and Investment Law), Sustainable Development Law, Human Rights Law, European Union Law, International Refugee Law, International Dispute Resolution, International Commercial Arbitration, and International Organisations Law, among others.
The group regularly organises guest seminars and workshops, with its members frequently featured in the media, contributing to the UEA Law blog, and overseeing the School’s podcast series. In addition to its full-time academic staff, the group comprises a dynamic and diverse community of postgraduate researchers, who are fully integrated into the group’s scholarly and professional activities. Furthermore, the International Law Research Group routinely hosts visiting scholars from around the world, deriving from academia and legal practice.
Members of the International Law Research Group engage extensively with legal practitioners and governmental bodies, providing expertise through consultancy projects and training initiatives.
For those interested in pursuing doctoral research in any area of international law — whether public or private — please contact Professor Avidan Kent (avidan.kent@uea.ac.uk), who will assist in identifying the appropriate supervisor.
