Your Impact in Action
“I was in a very difficult position where I felt like I was having to choose to either continue my studies or give up and try to find employment, as I couldn’t keep on top of the bills. Thankfully I was directed to apply for a hardship fund, which really helped me get out of a difficult time and has enabled me to finish the year. I’m so thankful for this support.”
Anonymous, UEA Student
Each year, a number of students at UEA experience financial difficulty through circumstances beyond their control, such as a bereavement or an emergency.
For many students, a financial hardship like this can be the difference between being able to continue their studies and having to leave university, which could have a knock-on effect for the rest of their lives.
Our Student Hardship Fund provides emergency assistance to students who need it. Experiencing real and unavoidable financial hardship is a distressing time for anyone, and for students who are unable to rely on support from their families, some of whom may be thousands of miles away, it is particularly hard. We feel very strongly that no student should be in the position of having to contemplate giving up their studies because of temporary financial hardship.
