Why choose Ghent
UGhent is a major research university in Belgium. Located in Flanders, many of the degrees are taught in Flemish, however there are certain degrees taught in English. It has a great reputation around the world and often ranks just outside the top 100 universities in the world. UGhent might offer the unique opportunity to study Belgian politics and history in situ. The university buildings are spread around the beautiful city of Ghent and exchange students are able to apply for university affiliated housing. The university has restaurants, sports facilities and student associations on offer.
Maybe Ghent isn't the obvious European city to visit but Ghent offers everything you'd want from European living. Ghent is laid-back and somewhere to get a feel for the local culture. Ghent is the capital and the largest city in East Flanders and Flemish is the local language. As you might expect in Belgium, the city is renowned for its beer so you won't be short of breweries and pubs to explore.
