Victoria University of Wellington has several key sustainability initiatives aimed at fostering a sustainable future. Here are some of the notable ones:
Sustainability Office: The university has established a dedicated Sustainability Office to oversee and implement sustainability initiatives across the campus.
Transport: Implementation of sustainable initiatives to promote sustainable commuting include encouraging the use of public transport, cycling, and walking. The university also supports carpooling and the use of electric vehicles.
Community Engagement: The university engages with the community through various sustainability events and activities, such as tree planting events and sustainability workshops.
Waste Reduction: The University currently has three worm hubs at our Kelburn Campus, with a total of 17 worm farms. The worms process food scraps from staff kitchens, then the worm castings are used in the campus gardens.
