Your Student visa is linked to your course. When applying for your visa, you informed UK Visa and Immigration services (UKVI) about the course UEA would be sponsoring you to study.
If you want to change your course you should talk to:
-
Your Learning and Teaching Service Programme team - to ensure they are happy for you to transfer
-
Your Academic Adviser - who will need to write a statement of support for your transfer
-
Student Life International - to discuss any visa implications of this course transfer
Course Transfers include cases where you are adding or removing a Year in Industry, or cases where you wish to transfer out of or into an integrated Master's course.
You will need to fill out an online form to request a course transfer. Your Adviser will need to approve it and you will also need to write a Personal Statement, supporting your transfer request. You should also speak with Student Life International, so that you understand any potential visa and monetary implications of the change .
Supporting Statement for your Course Transfer Form
Meeting with your Personal Adviser and, if possible, with the Programme Leaders of the courses you are applying to transfer from and to, will help you to write this statement and decide if you definitely want to transfer.
This discussion should help you to identify key areas you could include in your supporting statement. You might wish to think about:
-
What does your new course provide that your previous course does not?
-
How will your new course be better at helping you to achieve your academic goals?
-
How does your new course align with your career aspirations?
Speaking with Student Life International
You will need to email Student Life International so they can provide you with information about any implications of the transfer on your visa. Student Life International will not be to confirm eligibility for your proposed course change or whether or not your request will be accepted. The information Student Life International will explain may include whether:
-
You will be able to complete your new course within your current visa and, if not, when you will need to apply to extend your immigration permission.
-
You will need to interrupt your studies to start a new course next academic year.
-
Student visa 'time limits' will impact your ability to transfer courses.
-
Your new course meets Academic Progression requirements.
-
Any visa changes can be done from within the UK.
You can start your new course within the current academic year.
There could be any additional costs to you
If your course transfer is approved, your visa circumstances will undergo a final check by the Student Visa Compliance team and they will notify you of anything that you need to be aware of going forward. If your Course Transfer is approved, this team will also notify UKVI that you have changed course.
