Based on your type of course and length of study period, we can predict when we would expect your Student visa permission to start and end.
When you receive your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), it will contain the start and end dates of your course. In addition to this time, UKVI will grant students additional time before and after their course dates. How much time is granted before your course starts and after it ends can depend on the length, level, and type of study you are engaged with at UEA. You can use the table below to work out what additional time before and after your course you might expect to be granted.
Type of Course | Period before course | Period after course |
---|---|---|
12 months or more | 1 month before the course starts or 7 days before intended travel date, whichever is later | 4 months |
6 months or more but less than 12 months | 1 month before the course starts or 7 days before intended travel date, whichever is later | 2 months |
Pre-sessional course of less than 6 months | 1 month before the course starts or 7 days before intended travel date, whichever is later | 1 month |
Course of less than 6 months that is not pre-sessional | 7 days before course starts | 7 days |
Postgraduate doctor or dentist | 1 month before the course starts or 7 days before intended travel date, whichever is later | 1 month |
When you receive your visa, if you think your start or end dates are incorrect, please contact Student Life International for support. Please note, if you are coming to the UK to study your full degree programme and you receive an Entry Clearance Vignette in your passport, it is likely that the start and end dates on the vignette will only be 90 days apart. This is normal procedure. When you collect your BRP in the UK, it should contain the actual end date of your immigration permission.
