Understanding entry requirements and pathways into HE
This session lasts approximately 45 minutes and provides attendees with information on how to look at entry requirements and understand how to plug gaps in education, if any exist. Throughout this session, we will look at some examples of university entry requirements, UCAS tariff point calculator and explore valuable pathways for adult learners, such as the Access to HE qualification.
During the session, we will also explore ways to gain further insight through attending events, find out where to discover more and have space to ask questions.
Opportunities and services
This session lasts 60 minutes and gives insight into the sorts of services and opportunities universities can provide. We will be joined by current mature students, who will be available to answer questions and share their experience on all things university.
Throughout the session, we will explore Student Support, commuting, networking opportunities, getting involved with wider student life whilst navigating the services and space available.
Finance and funding
This session lasts approximately 60 minutes and provides attendees with information on how student finance works for UK based mature students entering undergraduate level study. Throughout this session, we will look at funding available from Student Finance England, bursaries provided by universities, scholarships, and additional funding for students with additional responsibilities or life circumstances.
During the session, we will also explore additional support universities can provide, as well as signposting tools to help attendees make sense of their eligibility.
Q&A session
This session lasts 60 minutes and provides attendees with the opportunity to ask questions from UEA’s Mature Student Advisor and mature students currently completing degrees. Attendees will be welcome to ask questions over video, through chat or by using an anonymous form. All questions are encouraged, but we will have some examples to hand to get the conversations flowing. This session provides a fantastic opportunity and space for fact finding so mature students can learn more about how a university experience may look ahead of starting their course.
During the session, we will also signpost to additional information that attendees will find useful in mapping out their future educational adventures.
