Our award-winning accommodation sits mere minutes from our impressive teaching and research facilities on a vibrant campus akin to an internationally diverse city, with shops, music venues, art galleries, libraries, cafés and a £30 million Sportspark all located on the edge of a beautiful, historic city voted the safest place to live in the UK. We believe UEA provides a truly life-changing educational experience and we pride ourselves on the thousands of satisfied students who graduate each year.
Living in Residences
Our residences are more than just a place to eat and sleep – they provide a unique social environment, an important aspect of university life. You will be living with a diverse mix of students from a rich variety of backgrounds, studying different subjects.
Each residence has at least one Warden to support you during your time in our residences
University residences include more than 4,300 furnished, centrally heated study bedrooms, which are grouped around shared kitchens. More than two thirds of our rooms are en suite, with their own shower, toilet and washbasin. All rooms have a single bed, wardrobe, desk with chair and fitted shelving. Each kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, and oven or combination microwave oven. Residents bring their own cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery and small electrical items such as a kettle and iron (ironing boards are provided by the University).
Wireless internet is available in all study bedrooms. There is no charge for this service
Our research shows we have some of the best value student accommodation in the UK (comparing prices across the country's top 30 universities), which has also twice been ranked 1st in the UK by the What Uni Student Choice Awards. A standard Undergraduate licence covers a 38-week period, beginning in September. Your room in residences is yours throughout your academic year (including Christmas and Easter breaks) and the licence commits you to paying for the full period of the licence.
The Accommodation Office acts as your landlord and we have a responsibility to ensure the terms and conditions of your licence are upheld and that the buildings are safe and secure. If you have any problems living in residences, we are here to listen, and to try to make things right.
The Accommodation Office works as part of an integrated network of UEA student services to ensure that you have an excellent experience of living in residences. We have included in these pages some essential information about how residences work.
All of our accommodation blocks are self-catered.
Please note: Only students from outside of the EU (Overseas fee status) are guaranteed Postgraduate Accommodation. For more information about this, please refer to our Accommodation Guarantee Criteria.
