We bring together staff across the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and beyond who have an interest in Japanese Studies into the Centre for Japanese Studies which was established to lead and coordinate Japan-related teaching, research and outreach activities across the University, acting as a bridge with the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures.
Courses offered include our undergraduate Japanese language degree programmes were introduced in 2012 and are taught within the School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies and the recently launched Masters in Interdisciplinary Japanese Studies.
In addition we offer two Summer Schools which provide a taste of studying Japanese arts and cultural heritage in the United Kingdom. These are the Japan Orientation Summer School which is aimed at undergraduate students and the Ishibashi Summer Fellowship which is aimed at advanced undergraduate or postgraduate students and early career professionals.
