FARMWISE: Future Agricultural Resource Management and Water Innovation for a Sustainable Europe
The aim of the EU Horizon FARMWISE project is to transform the European agricultural sector by empowering farmers and decision-makers with a state-of-the-art decision support system combining precision agriculture, AI and remote sensing.
FARMWISE will provide new insights into water quality, quantity, soil health and nutrient management. An advanced framework will foster knowledge sharing between scientists, farmers and policy makers in a co-creation environment.
The FARMWISE consortium includes 17 beneficiaries and 3 associated partners from 13 countries, bringing together experts and researchers in European water, agriculture, climate and AI.
Artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture refers to the application of advanced computational techniques, machine learning algorithms and data analytics to improve various aspects of farming and agribusiness. Key areas for AI application are in precision farming, crop monitoring, autonomous machinery, predictive analytics, smart irrigation, supply chain optimisation, disease and pest management, and soil health monitoring.
