Study and Modules
Structure
On this course, you’ll generally study six topics, including international business, strategic management, how to practice dynamic organisation, international business case studies, the impact of globalisation on people management and how to compete and trade fairly.
In your first semester, you’ll explore the essentials of modern business across three fascinating core modules. This will help develop your existing experience, knowledge and skills in international business, strategic management and organisational development. By the end of semester one you’ll have the opportunity to enhance and hone your future career aspirations and extend your key skills. Throughout your career, you're likely to work closely with these different disciplines, so this understanding is extremely valuable.
During semester two you’ll explore the challenges and complexities of cases in international business, as well as investigating the impacts of globalisation and people management and best practices for competing and trading fairly. Our passion for business, combined with research/industry-informed teaching, will assure you that we're putting your employability, hopes and dreams at the centre of every experience with us
Compulsory Modules
Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, the University will endeavour to consult with students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will inform students.
Teaching and Learning
Throughout your degree, you'll dive into business management theory and practice via lectures, seminars, and workshops. Our teaching, backed by the latest research and real-world business cases, ensures you're up to speed with industry trends. Expect not only to grasp current theories but also to develop critical skills for adapting to new ones as your career progresses.
Independent study is a key aspect. You'll delve into self-directed study, possibly including IT lab work and projects tackling real business challenges. Plus, you can enrich your studies by joining student-led business societies.
You'll also hone teamwork and communication skills by working with students from various Norwich Business School degrees. This exposure not only enhances your skills but also broadens your understanding of different business areas.
Guest speakers, including industry leaders and UEA alumni, provide unique insights into the business world. From high-level executives to recent graduates, their experiences offer valuable lessons. These events are excellent opportunities for networking and learning about career paths.
