About the course
ABOUT THE COURSE
UEA has provided a Medicines Reconciliation Training Programme since 2009.
This revised programme is nationally accredited and meets the Nationally Agreed Framework for Medicines Management standards. It provides essential knowledge and assesses the competence of staff whose roles require them to undertake medicines reconciliation.
Programme Structure
The programme consists of two levels:
- Level 1: Drug History Taking
- Level 2: Medicines Reconciliation
On completing the programme, pharmacy technicians gain transferable, nationally recognised skills.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
To successfully complete the course, participants must:
- Complete e-learning modules
- Attend a virtual study day
- Build a portfolio of evidence, including reflective accounts of holistically observed assessments
- Undergo an external review
Entry Criteria and Pre-requisites
Prior to attending the study day, all candidates must:
- Be assigned a qualified Educational Supervisor*
- Familiarise themselves with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to medicines management
- Complete a full induction in their assigned area with an experienced pharmacist or pharmacy technician, who must be accredited in medicines management or have equivalent occupational competence
*Educational Supervisors must be on the UEA approved list. New supervisors should contact the team by email to verify their status.
