ABOUT THE COURSE
The UEA Final Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) Scheme equips pharmacy technicians with essential skills and knowledge to perform the final accuracy check of dispensed items that have been clinically reviewed by a pharmacist.
This scheme aligns with the Nationally Agreed Framework for Final Accuracy Checking of Dispensed Items, making it a nationally recognised accreditation that is transferable across workplaces in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The course follows a blended learning approach, combining e-learning, face-to-face teaching, and evidence collection in the workplace.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
To successfully complete the course, candidates must:
- Complete the required e-learning modules
- Attend a regional study day
- Compile a portfolio, including a log of 1,000 accurately checked items
- Pass a final practical assessment under controlled conditions
- Undergo an external review
Entry Criteria and Pre-requisites
ENTRY CRITERIA
To enroll, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Show evidence of dispensing accuracy through:
- A log of 200 correctly dispensed items with no errors, OR
- A Dispensing Accuracy Scheme certificate from the past two years, with a record of the last 200 items showing zero errors.
PRE-REQUISITES
Before attending the study day, candidates should:
- Have been assigned to an Educational Supervisor - this supervisor must be on the UEA-approved list and have completed the Educational Supervisor Training Package.
- Be familiar with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) specific to local dispensing practices.

To register for an assessment, candidates must complete Appendix 13 – Assessment Registration Form and upload it to their VQ Manager e-portfolio.
