Module Overview / Introduction
The aim of this online multiprofessional module is to strengthen professional and academic self-awareness and to develop and address personal learning objectives to enable learners to succeed at Master’s level. This module has been developed in recognition of the need for a module that prepares learners for level 7 learning that can be taken at the start of a MSc programme or in preparation for Master’s level learning. We also recognise that some learners have not studied in the UK before and may not have experienced some of our assessment methods, in particular academic writing, and so this module will provide an opportunity to learn about the skills required to be successful at level 7 and to practise those skills in a range of assessment approaches.
The module uses analysis of the capabilities of the NHS England (2017) Multiprofessional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England to enable learners to critically reflect on and evaluate their current level of practice in relation to the clinical, management and leadership, education and research pillars. Through exploring the principles, knowledge and skills that underpin the practice capabilities associated with the four pillars, learners will develop their understanding and application of the academic skills required to work successfully at academic level 7 and experience assessment methods commonly applied within our level 7 post-graduate taught and CPD portfolio.

Whilst the University will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes be made arising from the annual monitoring, review and update of modules and regular (five-yearly) review of course programmes. Where this activity leads to significant (but not minor) changes to programmes and their constituent modules, there will normally be prior consultation of students and others. It is also possible that the University may not be able to offer a module for reasons outside of its control, such as the illness of a member of staff or sabbatical leave. In some cases optional modules can have limited places available and so you may be asked to make additional module choices in the event you do not gain a place on your first choice. Where this is the case, the University will endeavour to inform students.
