Course Overview
Through this course, you will build a sound theoretical and practical grounding in banking and finance, equipping yourself with the skills needed to excel in business or in research. You will graduate as someone who is not only highly skilled, but also an independent and critical thinker, able to make their own decisions when faced with complex problems.

This course is ideal for you if you have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Management or in a quantitative subject, such as Mathematics or Engineering.

You will be qualified to work in commercial banking, asset management, hedge funds, consulting and accountancy firms, government bodies, and academic institutions.
You will develop research-orientated expertise in investment and risk management, banking, corporate finance and international accounting. You will become expert in the cutting-edge quantitative techniques needed for in-depth empirical investigations in banking and finance. You will discover how to critically analyse theories and data in order to make effective, evidence-based financial decisions. And you will receive support and access to online resources such as Thomson Reuters including Eikon and Datastream and BankOrbis.
Working with leading academics in Norwich Business School’s highly-respected Finance Group, you will discover the most important recent developments in financial research. Meanwhile, you will build the analytical skills needed to make your own contribution to the latest thinking in the field. In our computer laboratories, you will learn how to implement and test the theories you have learned. You will also gain first-hand experience of applying the tools used by leading traders, financial analysts and investment bankers in their day-to-day work.
Your dissertation will enable you not only to tackle an issue you think is important, but also to develop the research and analytical skills you will need to keep innovating throughout your career. You will discover how to make decisions based on evidence and how to use literature and research to solve problems. All of which will be essential in your career.
Accreditations
The MSc Banking and Finance degree is part of the CISI Education Partner accreditation of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI); providing you with scholarship opportunities to sit a number of their professional examinations and obtain student membership.
This MSc is a participant of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Higher Education Alignment arrangement, which enables students who are looking to develop a career in the insurance and personal finance profession to undertake the CII qualifications at academic rate with free membership.
Entry Requirements

- Bachelors degree - 2.1 or equivalent
- Degree Subject
- Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Management or a degree in a quantitative subject (such as Science or Engineering). NB: There is a numerical content in a range of modules on the course, students need a competent level of numeracy to complete the course
- English Foreign Language
We welcome applications from students whose first language is not English. To ensure such students benefit from postgraduate study, we require evidence of proficiency in English. Our usual entry requirements are as follows:

IELTS: 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in only two components with 6.0 in the others)

PTE (Pearson): 64 (minimum 59 in only two components with 64 in the others)
Test dates should be within two years of the course start date.

If you do not meet the academic requirements for this course, you may be able to study one of the International Graduate Diploma programmes offered by our partner INTO UEA. Fees and Funding
Tuition fees for the Academic Year 2023/24 are:

International Students: £21,200 (full time)
If you choose to study part-time, the fee per annum will be half the annual fee for that year, or a pro-rata fee for the module credit you are taking (only available for Home students).
We estimate living expenses at £1,023 per month.
