WHAT IS A MSc BY RESEARCH?
An MSc by Research in Mathematics is a specialised research degree (1 year of research and up to 1 year to write your thesis). You’ll work within a vibrant community of researchers, exploring the frontiers of mathematics and its applications, while deepening your expertise in a field you’re passionate about.
WHAT MATHEMATICS TOPIC CAN I RESEARCH?
Our expertise spans a broad range of topics in:
Applied Mathematics
Biological mathematics, environmental mathematics, fluid dynamics, fluid-structure interaction, industrial mathematics, nonlinear systems, numerical computing, quantum fluids.
Pure Mathematics
Groups and semigroups, logic and model theory, number theory, proof formalisation in Lean, representation theory, set theory.
Statistics
Data science, high-dimensional statistics, statistical inference.
Do you have a unique research idea? Contact one of our academic staff (see the research group list below) to discuss your proposal. We’re eager to collaborate and tailor a project to your interests.
