Introduction
The International Foundation prepares you for direct entry to Year 1 of a science-related undergraduate degree. During the programme you'll develop relevant subject-specific knowledge and skills in a range of numerical subjects, including Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, Accounting and Mathematics at UEA.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed in each module. Assessment is designed to help you build on our success and meet the requirements for entry to the first year of a degree. Grades from the International Foundation programme do not count towards the final degree but they help the University assess your abilities in your chosen field of study.
You are assessed by a combination of examination and course work, which may include:
- essays
- reports
- practicals
- exercises
- group and individual research projects
- portfolios
- oral presentations
- seminar discussions
- class tests
- problem solving exercises
Qualifications
English language requirements:
For a standard course, the English language requirements are IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in Writing and Reading and 4.5 in all other subskills) or equivalent. IELTS 6.0 minimum overall with minimum of 6.0 in all subskills for students aiming to progress to Nursing, Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. IELTS 6.0 minimum overall with minimum of 5.5 in all subskills for students aiming to progress to Pharmacy. IELTS 6.5 minimum overall with minimum of 6.5 in all subskills for students aiming to progress to Speech and Language Therapy.
For an extended course, the English language requirements are IELTS 4.5 overall (with a minimum of 4.5 in Writing and Reading and no less than 4.0 in other subskills) or equivalent. IELTS 5.5 minimum overall with minimum of 5.5 in all subskills for students aiming to progress to Nursing, Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy. IELTS 5.5 minimum overall with minimum of 5.0 in all subskills for students aiming to progress to Pharmacy. IELTS 6.0 minimum overall with minimum of 6.0 in all subskills for students aiming to progress to Speech and Language Therapy.
Age requirements:
- 16 years and above. All students must be 16 years old by the time they start their INTO UEA course and turn 17 years old by 15 September of the year they start their degree at UEA.
Academic requirements:
- Completion of 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades.
