Our response:
Information not held - s.1(1)(a), Freedom of Information Act]
On this occasion it is not possible to provide all the requested information. In line with your rights under section 1(1)(a) of the Act to be informed whether information is held, we confirm that the University does not hold information on whether a student enrolled at the University was ‘suspected’ to have died by suicide. The University does not record any student deaths as ‘suspected suicide’ and would only record a death as 'suicide', once a Coroner’s verdict has confirmed that is the case, therefore we do not hold any information for the number of student deaths either on or off campus or within student accommodation which are ‘suspected’ suicides.
Question 3. The number of confirmed student suicides in the years:
- 2022-23 (to April 1)
- 2021-22

- 2019-20
- 2018-20
Our response:

Please note the figures provided in the above table are in relation to the number of student deaths confirmed as ‘suicide’ by a Coroner. Please also note that the figures provided refer only to student deaths confirmed as ‘suicide’ that occurred on the University campus.
