Our History graduates have a distinguished track record across a wide range of sectors and industries, including business, finance, policy bodies, local and national government, public relations, heritage and education. Currently UEA History graduates work in the Cabinet Office, the UN, Kent Police and Riot Communications.

Our assessment patterns have been designed to target and develop key critical skills, including written and oral communication. We also have a number of modules which focus on the role of history in practice in popular career destinations i.e. heritage and teaching
We understand that thinking about life after university can sometimes be daunting. As School we are committed to ensuring that you can excel in the workplace. We have a dedicated careers academic who ensures that you are supported and encouraged to think about your career throughout your degree. We also have a dedicated careers adviser for the School, who offers personally tailored guidance to each student. You will also benefit from a range of experiences, opportunities and support, including:

Sector-specific insight and networking events with graduates and professionals focused on popular career areas for History graduates, e.g. Public Sector, Heritage, Marketing, Comms and PR, Teaching, Journalism, Publishing, Charities, etc.
Paid internships hosted within the School of History and Art History, Faculty of Arts and Humanities and local employers, available exclusively to UEA students and graduates. Recent roles have included Social Media Comms, Research Support, and Podcast Production.
