With term drawing to a close, and the winter break fast approaching, some facilities and services at UEA will have reduced opening hours and partial closures. Read below for full details.
Student Services
Residential Life Advisers and Student Services Residents will be available for those staying on campus over the winter break. Further details can be found on the Residential Life webpage or in the kitchen of your UEA residences.
Other Student Services support will be closed from Friday 22 December through to Monday 1 January inclusive. A full list of support services and self-led activities are available to students and contact details can be found on the Student Services webpage.
If you need to speak to someone urgently about your mental health or someone you are concerned about, do not delay in seeking help. Contact your out of hours GP; dial 111 - option 2; or attend the Accident & Emergency department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. All students and staff have 24/7 access to Health Assured’s Employee Assistance Programme. You can access support at any time through their telephone helpline: 0800 028 0199.
Togetherall is a mental health service offering all UEA students 24/7 support with trained clinicians online.
Student Information Zone
The Student Information Zone (SIZ) will be open in person and on Live Chat until 5pm on Thursday 21 December and will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January. For more information visit the SIZ portal page.
Medical Centre
The UEA Medical Centre (UMS) will close on Monday 25 December and reopen on Wednesday 27 December. UMS will close again on Monday 1 January and reopen on Tuesday 2 January. When closed, please phone NHS 111 for medical assistance, or 999 in a life-threatening emergency. For full details on opening hours and booking appointments, visit the UMS webpage.
Security
The Security Team are available throughout the winter break, operating a 24/7 service. For general security enquiries, the team can be contacted on +44 (0)1603 592352 or by emailing security@uea.ac.uk. If it is an emergency, please use the Safezone app or call +44 (0)1603 592222. Please only dial this number if it is an emergency.
Estates
The Estates Helpdesk will close on Thursday 21 December at 4pm and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January at 8am. Normal hours of 8am–4pm will resume from that date.
The Helpdesk inbox (jobdone@uea.ac.uk) will not be monitored during the winter break. However, emergency maintenance will still be provided on the Helpdesk number +44 (0)1603 59 2121.
IT Support Services
The IT Service Desk will be available until 5pm on Thursday 21 December and will reopen at 8am on Tuesday 2 January. Remote support via their live chat service will be available between 10am and 4pm on Friday 22 December and between Wednesday 27 to Friday 29 December. The IT Services AI Assistant is available for support 24/7 during this period.
Post Room
The Post Room is open for student post collections between 9am-4:15pm, Monday to Friday. The Post Room will close at 4.15pm on Thursday 21 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 January. Visit the Post Room webpage for more information.
Where to eat
For a full list of catering outlets open over the winter break, visit the Where to Eat webpage where you will find menu choices, opening times and each outlet’s location on campus.
The Warren
The Warren will be closed between Friday 22 December and Monday 1 January but the seating area on the right hand side of Ziggy's will be open during this time between 8am and 11pm. Ziggy's cafe will not be operational and accessible during this time.
The Shop
The Shop will remain open as usual over the winter break but with reduced opening hours from Friday 22 December to Monday 1 January, between 11am-3pm. The Shop will also be closed on the morning of Friday 5 January for a stock take.
bar(su)
bar(su) will be closed between Friday 22 December and Monday 1 January inclusive, and will also be closed on Sunday 7 January.
Sainsbury Centre
The Sainsbury Centre will be closed between Saturday 23 December and Tuesday 26 December, and on Monday 1 January. The Sculpture Park will be open daily during daylight hours. Sportspark
The Sportspark will be closed on Monday 25 December, Tuesday 26 December and on Monday 1 January. For full details on activities and opening times, visit the Sportspark website.
Student Union Offices
The Welcome Desk will be open 10am to 2pm between Monday 18 December and Thursday 21 December. The offices will then be closed between Friday 22 December and Monday 1 January inclusive.
CareerCentral
CareerCentral will be closed between Friday 22 December and Monday 1 January. You can access their online resources and live vacancies on My CareerCentral
Library
The Library will be open 24/7 throughout the winter break, with UEA Security staff available at the Library reception desk. Library staff will be available to answer queries up until 5pm on Thursday 21 December and from 9am on Tuesday 2 January. INTO Catering
INTO Catering will be open daily from Monday 18 December to Monday 2 January inclusive. Between 18 and 22 December, it will be open for breakfast and lunch from 8am to 2pm, and between 23 December and 1 January it will be open from 10am to 2pm. A Christmas Day Lunch is available (2 courses with coffee for £7.95) for pre-booked guests only: drop in and book at INTO Reception, call 01603 592977, or email Paul Carter at p.carter@uea.ac.uk.
Learning and Teaching Service (LTS)
LTS will be closed between Friday 22 December and Monday 1 January inclusive.
Postgraduate Research Service
The Postgraduate Research Service will be closed between Friday 22 December and Monday 1 January inclusive. Contact details for the Postgraduate Research Service and further information for postgraduate researchers are available on the PGR Service webpage.
Buses
Winter break bus arrangements can be found on the FirstBus and Konectbus websites.
