UEA has climbed into the top 30 of The Mail University Guide 2025 following an announcement on 5 September.
Improving on 31st place in last year’s inaugural rankings, UEA has risen to joint 29th place, alongside the University of Edinburgh and the University of Leicester.
Rankings are decided based on performance across twelve areas, with UEA scoring highly in ‘Research Quality’ (17th).
The Mail University Guide’s methodology differs from other rankings in several ways, with a lower proportion (5%) given to entry standards than others such as The Guardian (15%) and the Complete University Guide (12.5%).
The guide also assesses universities across 78 subject areas, with UEA being highlighted as particularly strong in Counselling (4th out of 46), Biomedical Science (5th out of 55), and Physics (5th out of 44).
This announcement means that UEA is now ranked as a top 25 university by the Complete University Guide and a top 30 by both The Mail and the Times and Sunday Times.
