A new research programme that will see leading experts and researchers in the field of multiphase flows working for a month on the UEA campus will be happening in July 2024.
Multiphase flows are a ubiquitous phenomenon in nature and technology, ranging from the flow of blood in the human circulatory system to industrial processes in chemical engineering, and oil and gas exploration. The Mathematics of Multiphase Flows with Applications programme aims to tackle the complex and diverse challenges posed by these flows and to explore their applications across science.
The programme will feature a series of workshops, seminars and collaborative activities - all of which will provide a unique platform for participants to exchange ideas, share their research findings and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. The distinguished list of confirmed speakers includes experts from the areas of applied mathematics, engineering and the physical sciences.
Participation from members of the research community at UEA and across the Norwich Research Park is strongly welcomed. Colleagues are invited to join informally or to give a talk to stimulate discussion about their research. Posing open scientific problems will be particularly welcome.
The structure of the programme is as follows:
Registration is free for UEA participants.
If you are interested in taking part in some of the programme, or would like to learn more about it, please contact Prof Mark Blyth in the School of Mathematics at m.blyth@uea.ac.uk.
A new national hub will harness the engineering, physical and mathematical sciences (EPMS) research and innovation community’s collective effort to address diversity challenges specific to the sector.
