The Santander Bursary has already changed my life"
Jordan Aramitz, UEA undergraduate studying English Literature and Creative Writing
Even though it has only been two months since I started my degree in English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, so much has happened in that short period of time.
Life at university is incredibly different to how it was at college and I do believe it has changed for the better.
From a young age, I developed a love of books and making up my own stories. Through them, I could transport myself from a dreary inner city block to wonderful lands of magical creatures or even to whole other planets where ‘Portsmouth Harbour’ never even existed.
One of the greatest things about storytelling is that it is cheap. So cheap that everyone who has a tale can tell it without having to worry about how much damage it may do to their bank accounts. In my opinion, it is one of the greatest and most freely available indulgences available to all humans.
However, because of Santander's generosity, I have been able to take part in other activities that were simply out of my reach before university. I have joined Dance Squad after discovering a passion for the sport at one of their taster sessions and can continue to improve my skills for the next year with my membership now paid for. Moreover, I have (as expected) joined the Creative Writing Society. A highlight of that decision being their latest Open Mic Night where I was able to read my poetry to an audience for great feedback. It was exhilarating and I can tell that it is only the start of many more amazing experiences to come at UEA.
The Santander Bursary has already changed my life greatly and I know it will continue to make a huge difference to my university experience.
