Will you help enhance the sport and physical activity opportunities for our students?
Sport and physical activity are integral parts of community life at UEA for students and staff alike. We pride ourselves on being able to provide a wide-ranging programme of sporting, recreational and health-promoting activities. uea+sport is the University’s dedicated sports service, focused on providing students with opportunities to stay active, compete and connect through sport. From recreational activities to elite-level performance programmes, uea+sport supports all students in leading a healthy and active lifestyle on campus.
Our 56 clubs are the beating heart of uea+sport’s programme, offering students the opportunity to find their tribe across a wide range of different sports and activities, from archery to athletics and pole fitness to pool. We are proud to say that all our clubs are welcoming to members of all abilities. They create great friendship groups, provide new experiences, and offer fantastic opportunities for learning and development and, most importantly, they have fun!
Recent research carried out by uea+sport has shown that students engaged in the sport and physical activity programme offered by the department are less likely to drop out of university and have better graduate attainment, highlighting the importance of ensuring that all students have the opportunity to get involved.
What the President’s Grants Fund supports
Every year, uea+sport provides a small budget that clubs can bid into to support and enhance the activities for their members. Individual clubs make submissions which are then voted on by the club Presidents at their monthly meetings. Requests funding range from the purchase of new climbing harnesses to specialist costumes for dance club performances to protective equipment or additional coaching support to increase the capacity of a club session.
How you can help
Any donations to the President’s Grants Fund will directly impact the amount of money available for our clubs every year meaning more clubs and students will benefit from the enhancements that they wish to deliver, helping to improve the student experience.
Donations will either be added to the overall President’s Grants Fund pot or can be ringfenced for a specific club of your choice for spending when the need arises.
