New members of staff who identify as LGBTQIA+ are very welcome and the group is steadily growing with both work-based and social meetings.
Our Staff Pride group aims to:
- Provide support and information to staff on LGBTQIA+ matters in the workplace
- Act as an advisory group on LGBTQIA+equality & diversity issues within the university, eg contributing to policy development and implementation
- Increase the visibility of LGBTQIA+ issues in the workplace
- Have a positive and recognisable presence within the university community
- Hold regular Staff Pride Network meetings throughout the academic year
- Organise in-person social events throughout the year to celebrate diversity and cultural inclusion
- Sign-post to other LGBTQIA+ support networks and organisations
- Recognise that personal lived experiences could be different from others and provide safe spaces to talk about these
- Be non-judgemental
- Foster respect, recognition and celebrating achievements of UEA colleagues and fellow Network members
- Supporting staff with networking opportunities and raising concerns with key decision-makers
- Represent UEA at Norwich based LGBTQIA+ themed events, such as Norwich Pride
- Celebrate LGBTQIA+ themed dates and months throughout the year, such as History & Pride Months
