New rankings place UEA in world top 150

The University of East Anglia (UEA) has leapt 49 places to become a top 150 university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2015-16.
The University improved its position from 198th to 149th place in the prestigious rankings, published today, placing it firmly within the top one per cent of higher education institutions worldwide. The editor of the league table called it “an outstanding achievement”.
UEA scored particularly highly on citations – the number of times a university’s published research is cited by scholars globally – and is now ranked 50th in the world for this measure. One of only 11 UK institutions in the world top 50 for this measure, it illustrates the University’s global influence in spreading new knowledge and ideas.
UEA Vice-Chancellor Prof David Richardson said: “This is a tremendous leap up an important league table and demonstrates our continuing strong performance across all rankings.
“I am delighted that we continue to be recognised as one of the top one per cent of universities globally, and would like to thank both academic and support staff for their sustained commitment to making UEA such a significant player on the world stage.”
This latest success comes in a year UEA has again achieved top 20 positions in all UK university league tables - the Guardian, the Times/Sunday Times, and the Complete University Guide.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are widely recognised as the most authoritative source of comparative performance information on universities, employing 13 separate indicators to examine the core missions of the modern, global university: teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.
