Welcome to the School of Computing Sciences. We were founded over 40 years ago and we pride ourselves on teaching and research that is relevant to the needs of now and the future. We believe that we learn by doing so we teach using a practical hands-on approach in combination with the latest theories.
We place great value on ensuring that our graduates are highly regarded in the employment market once they graduate. We maintain links to local and national businesses through our Industrial Advisory Board to help us ensure that the needs of Industry are reflected in our teaching, thus ensuring that our graduates are highly employable once they finish their degree. In addition to this, we also focus on ensuring students have excellent opportunities to meet with employers during their time at UEA.
Our research has won awards and prizes, with 80% of our Computer Science and Informatics outputs classified as world leading or internationally excellent in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF).
Our laboratory facilities are outstanding and more details can be found on our facilities pages.
We are committed to the principles of the Athena SWAN charter which recognises and celebrates good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) in higher education. We are proud to be an Athena Swan Bronze Award holder.
