Things to be Aware of
To conform with UK Money Laundering Legislation, strict guidelines exist with regard to UEA refunding any payments made, especially if those payments are made in cash. If we are unable to satisfactorily verify the source of the funds or the credentials of the payer, UEA may be unable to repay the funds.
You are free to make additional payments towards your tuition fees and UEA accommodation costs, before you arrive. You may wish to consider making additional tuition fee payments wherever you can, to avoid your funds being negatively impacted by exchange rate changes.
The UK Visas and Immigration service (UKVI) place a limit on the amount of payments we can declare on your CAS. If you make additional payments, UEA can only declare a maximum of your full first year's tuition, and £1,334 paid towards UEA accommodation. We cannot declare any payments made towards non-UEA accommodation. We strongly recommend that you do not pay any more than UEA can declare on your CAS - you will need to show that you have the remaining funds in your financial evidence for your Student visa application. We would advise you do not pay more than the UKVI limit. This will help ensure you have the right level of funds in your bank account when applying for a Tier 4 visa.
If you pay more than the cost of your tuition fees and accommodation, then any overpayment will be refunded after arrival.
Please note, you MUST apply for UEA accommodation in order to be allocated a room. Full information of accommodation fees and the accommodation application form are available online.
Make sure you use your full name and application number as the reference when you make a payment, for example "John Smith, 800047891", to enable us to assign the payment to your account.
Ensure you keep a record of payment. We cannot issue a refund without proof of payment and can only refund to the same account payment was made from.
